Growing up, I was engaged in many physical activities including kayaking where I’ve achieved the National championship and I am so thankful to my parents who involved my siblings and I in physical activities since a young age. Today, I am doing the same with my kids to stay active. This event is very important, which is why my 16 years old daughter and I are participating to encourage other teenage girls to be involved in physical activities and contribute to reverse the problem of teenage girls abandoning sport and to be active for life.

As the proud mother of three dynamic and inspiring ballerinas, Cynthia strives to balance her demanding career with her family life. Thus, she laments that so many women neglect their needs to meet those of their loved ones. For this busy professional, exercise is the ultimate form of self-care. It provides stress relief while allowing her to put her health front and centre.
Growing up, Cynthia didn’t have many opportunities to engage in sport, which is why it is important to her that her daughters remain active. She wants physical activity to be the norm for them, not the exception. One of the things she loves about the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Relay is she can engage her whole family while getting involved in her community and supporting a meaningful cause. Her 15 year-old daughter Gemma will be participating in this event with her.
Cynthia is proud that she remained true to her values during the thirty years she’s worked in the banking industry. In addition to holding a number of high-ranking positions, she’s spent a lot of time volunteering for good causes, such as Kids Help Phone. In fact, she was named the organization’s Volunteer of the Year three times. Currently, she’s co-president of BMO’s Women in a Supported Environment Affinity Group, which helps women in business succeed.
